HOW TO USE

Like insoles for humans, if you're wanting to use these for cushioning, you simply have to trim these to size and pop into your horses boot. The grippy, fibrous surface of the wool will simply grip onto the rubber of the inside of the boot. Wool is also naturally compressive, meaning it will gently and evenly conform to the horses frog and hoof shape, dispersing pressure. Ensure you trim the hoof pad to a size where it fits snugly inside the boot, it doesn't move about, so it can sit across the hoof flat without bunching.

You can also incorporate these into healing and drawing hoof poultices, to give the hoof a little comfort and support as well as helping to contain all the ingredients in the poultice. Pop the hoof pad inside the breathable bag, or wrap you're using - ensure it's trimmed to an appropriate size and is laying flat against the hoof/ ingredients and doesn't bunch up. The wool is naturally antibacterial, so when used in conjunction with a healing poultice it will help deter bacteria build up. Wool is also wicking, breathable and hygroscopic, meaning it will absorb moisture from the area without sitting wet against the hoof surface (unless things are incredibly damp); it will also allow hooves to breathe. In this case we'd recommend disposing of the hoof pad after use with other ingredients, especially if the poultice has been used in conjunction with treating infection of any sort.

Please note:

Although we're confident our hoof pads are safe and effective, we cannot accept any liability for any consequences arising from the use of these hoof pads. Please use with care and at your own risk.

PRODUCT INFO

Made from 100% sheep wool with a jute carrier, these hoof pads are a completely natural choice. Wool is naturally antibacterial, breathable, and environmentally friendly, while also moulding comfortably to the hoof. It’s an ideal material for protecting your pony’s hooves.

The pads are reusable, washable, and compostable at the end of life. They break down into natural by-products with no plastics or microplastics to worry about. If they get dirty, simply hand-wash in warm soapy water, rinse, and lay flat to air dry. Wool’s natural properties mean the pads dry quickly, resist odours, and won’t harbour bacteria.

When used with an infected hoof, we recommend disposing of the pad afterwards. It can be safely composted or even repurposed as a mulch mat in the garden.

To use, insert the pad into the hoof boot like an insole. For heavier horses or extra cushioning, place two layers in the boot. As the pad compresses with use, additional layers can be added.
